How the Program Works

During a Connected Solutions Battery event, your battery may be called up to discharge stored energy to help stabilize the grid when electricity demand is at its highest.

Your system participates automatically without requiring any action from you.

Key details:

  • Enroll using the MySolArk web or mobile app.
  • You are a National Grid, EVERSOURCE or Cape Light Compact customer in Massachusetts
  • Customers who participate will receive an annual incentive of $275 per kW for their battery's average performance between June 1 and September 30.

  • On average, customers have received $1200 per year.*

  • The dispatch window is 15:00 to 22:00.

  • The maximum event duration is 3 hours.

  • Maximum events per season - 60.

  • Your system maintains backup protection for your home.

  • You can specify a reserve backup capacity.

  • You can opt out at any time

Payouts are performance-based compensation and are subject to program approval, customer eligibility, and applicable program terms. Compensation varies based on system size, available capacity, event participation, and overall system performance. Actual earnings may differ from estimates or examples and are not guaranteed.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Will my battery be fully drained during an event?

No. Dispatch events typically use only a portion of your stored energy. Your system continues to prioritize backup protection based on the reserve capacity you specify.

How often do events occur?

Events typically occur during periods of high electricity demand in the summer and winter. Events occur between 2pm and 10pm and last a maximum of 4 hours.

Do I need to manually control my system to participate in events?

No. Once enrolled, your Sol-Ark system manages participation automatically.

Am I locked into the program once I enroll or can I opt out later?

You can opt out of events, but the incentive paid will be affected. You can request to withdraw your system from the program at any time by emailing your utility: National Grid, EVERSOURCE, or Cap Light Compact. However, if you are removed from the program you will not receive incentives for that season. Note: Once enrolled in the program, you will remain in the program year over year until you provide notice to Na􀆟tional Grid that you would like to be removed from the program.

Will this impact my battery warranty?

No. Participation in the program does not impact Sol-Ark equipment warranties.

Do I need to maintain an internet connection to my energy storage system?

Yes. If the program cannot communicate with your energy storage system, or if your energy storage system cannot discharge when needed (due to a maintenance issue), the incentive paid will be affected.
